Reoccuring "System files are out of date" messages during setup. This error indicates an invalid Windows system configuration and will affect all applications developed with Visual Basic 5.0 or 6.0. There are three know causes:

1) An invalid SETUP.LST file was propagated to in some prtrk430.zip files. The valid SETUP.LST file for prtrk430.zip has the date/time 10/30/2000 11:34. Please check the file timestamp carefully because the timestamp of the invalid SETUP.LST file is nearly identical. You can download and updated SETUP.LST file from http://www.prtracker.com/SetupLst430.zip. Note that this SETUP.LST file is for PR-Tracker only -- not PR-Tracker Web.

2) One is that there may be mismatched OLE componants installed which are newer than what PR-Tracker ships. PR-Tracker and PR-Tracker Web Client ship with these OLE components:

OLEAUT32.DLL 2.30.4261
OLEPRO32.DLL 5.0.4261
ASYCFILT.DLL 2.30.4261
STDOLE2.TLB 2.30.4261

PR-Tracker Web Server ships with NT SP6a OLE components:

OLEAUT32.DLL 2.40.4277
OLEPRO32.DLL 5.0.4277
ASYCFILT.DLL 2.40.4277
STDOLE2.TLB 2.40.4277

You can verify that your problem is mismathed OLE components by running CHECK.EXE, a utility program that comes with PR-Tracker. http://www.prtracker.com/support/Misc/check.html for instructions on using CHECK.EXE.

To solve this problem you will need to install a program with a matching set of OLE components. You can search the Microsoft DLL Help Database to find that program. See http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp?fr=0&sd=msdn

3) If not (a) then your TEMP environment variable may be set incorrectly. See http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q191/0/96.asp for the solution.

WORK AROUND

One work around which may work for some computers is to do the following steps:
1) Copy SETUPPR.EX_ to SETUPPR.EXE (do not rename).
2) Copy SETUP.LST to the Windows directory (may be named WINNT, WIN95 or something else)
3) Run SETUPPR.EXE
